No, not this kind of board!

The Writers’ Room of Boston is a member-based community of writers in all genres. Our mission is to provide a welcoming and safe workspace and an open and vibrant community to support the creation of written work. The Board of the Writers’ Room is responsible for furthering this mission by expanding the membership particularly among underserved communities, devising and implementing new programs and initiatives, seeking opportunities for external support, developing relationships with other organizations both regionally and nationally, managing the Room’s workspace, on-line presence and financial resources.


The Board is made up of between 5 – 10 members, usually serving on a two-year revolving basis. The Program Director serves as an ex-officio, non-voting Board member. The Board welcomes applicants from outside the membership. Board members make a commitment to attend monthly meetings, support the Room either through monetary donation or managing programs or activities.  


If you are interested in serving on our board please email board.chair@writersroomofboston.org. Include a brief description of your interest in the literary community of Boston, what particular skills you feel would be relevant to Board membership and a copy of your current professional resume. After reviewing your application, the Board asks that prospective members attend the next monthly meeting to make sure there is a good fit.
